Sophia; from the Greek for wisdom, is one of the great archetypes of the feminine soul: a bridge between the visible and the sacred. Her roots run deep, through the Jewish figure of Chokmah, through Hellenistic philosophy, and into the heart of Gnostic cosmology, where she became the divine feminine principle at the centre of creation itself. Her energy echoes in the snake goddesses of ancient Crete, in the oracles, in every tradition that has honoured the deep knowing carried within the feminine. These brushed gold acrylic drop earrings are etched with a delicate hand-drawn Sophia design that I created after an immersive journey into her mythology.
